[Update] April 16, 2026

Hi Creators,

Following our global launch of requiring age checks to chat, we want to share how these changes will apply to Studio’s Team Create.

Because Team Create in Studio enables collaboration and communication across ages, we want to make sure that our safety standards are consistent across Roblox. While the large majority of Team Create sessions are positive and productive, we also need to safeguard against any potential bad actors attempting to abuse the functionality by avoiding moderation that occurs when an experience is published.

While we’re doing this to help keep creators safe and let parents decide who their kids can collaborate with, we want to minimize disruption to creator teams especially when working with people they know and trust.

There are two things you should do today if you use Team Create to collaborate in Studio:

  1. Complete an age check. If you haven’t already, navigate to your Roblox account’s settings and choose either “Continue with Camera” or “Continue with ID” to complete an age check.

  2. Navigate to Creations > Experiences on Creator Hub and toggle on the “Impacted” filter.

    a. If no experiences are shown, then you’re able to use Team Create with all collaborators for every experience that you have edit access to.

    b. If you see any experiences in the filtered list, read on to learn what you need to do to continue using Team Create in the impacted experiences.

If you and all of your collaborators have completed both of these steps no further action is required; your use of Team Create will not be affected when these requirements go live in May. Make sure your collaborators complete these steps too, to make sure they can collaborate with every other creator in their experiences.

If you’re a solo creator or all members of your team are 16+ and age checked, these new requirements will not impact how your team can use Studio’s Team Create.

Get Age Checked for Team Create Collaboration in Studio

Starting in May, age checks will be required to collaborate live via Team Create in Studio with other creators.

In addition to age checks, creators who join a Team Create enabled experience for the first time will need to meet one of the following requirements to collaborate:

  1. Be a similar age or Trusted Connections with all current collaborators who have already accessed the experience, or

Receive parental permission to collaborate with all age groups via a new Studio Collaboration parental control from a linked parent account.

Group or experience owners must age check to enable the rest of the collaborators to join their experiences.

  • Once a creator joins a Team Create session, they retain access unless they lose Trusted Connection status with any collaborator or a parent revokes their Studio collaboration permission.

  • All creators will still be able to create in Studio and use Team Create alone; this change only applies when using the Collaborate feature to create with others in Team Create.

New Collaborator Views in Creator Hub

We’ve added a filter in the Creator Hub experience dashboard that gives you insight into your existing experiences impacted by age requirements for Team Create.

  • To view which experiences might be impacted by these changes: Navigate to Creator Hub’s Creations > Experiences and toggle on the “Impacted” filter.

  • To view the status of each of your collaborators in an experience: Click on the “Impacted” label on the experience or navigate to Creations > Experience > Safety > Collaborator view; any collaborator who shows up in this view is outside your age group and not yet Trusted Connections.

    • You can either add them as a Trusted Connection or, if you’re under 16, get parental permission to collaborate with them.

In early April, we are launching an enhanced summary view in Creator Hub. This will allow owners and admins to identify specific collaborator pairs that need to become Trusted Connections or get parental permission (which collaborator is blocking/blocked by who), helping you manage access and mediate team connections.

New Parental Control for Team Create Collaboration

For parental permission, we’ve launched a new parental control “Live collaboration in Studio”. Parents of young creators can go into their parental controls and choose who they’re comfortable having their child collaborate with in Team Create.

  • Users under 16 can request that their parents update this setting, or linked parents can proactively update it from Parental Controls.

  • Creators do not need to request permission every time they use Team Create. This setting will stay selected unless the parent changes it.

Trusted Connections

Trusted Connections are another way you can continue to collaborate with creators you know and trust but are outside of your age range. You can read this article to learn about the different ways you can add Trusted Connections.

We plan to enable Trusted Connections for creators (and users) under 13 in the coming weeks. All under 13 users will need parental approval to establish each Trusted Connection.

FAQs

As an owner of a collaborative experience, can I be blocked from accessing my experience because of these requirements?

  • You will never be blocked from accessing your experience due to age restrictions. However, you need to age check to allow other collaborators to join your experience.

  • This is true even as a Group owner. You need to age check to enable other group members to collaborate in Team Create.

What if I’m collaborating with a large team?

  • When you are trying to establish trust with more than 30 creators at the same time to get access to a collaborative experience, creators under 16 will be required to get parental permission via the new Studio collaboration parental setting. Parental consent is the simplest and safest way to establish trust at this scale.

I’m under 16 and got my parent’s permission. Do I still need to be Trusted Connections with other creators under 16?

  • If you’re collaborating with another creator who is under 16 but is outside of your age range (as an example, if you’re 14 and they are 8), you will need to either:

    • Become Trusted Connections with one another to continue collaborating,

    • Ensure you both have your parents change the new parental control to “All age groups”.

What if I have Team Create on but have no collaborators added to the Experience?

  • An age check is not needed to create experiences or work by yourself in Team Create. You will be required to age check when another creator is given Edit access to the Experience.

What if my Group’s experience doesn’t have Team Create on, but Group roles have Edit access?

  • Group members with Edit access can continue to work by themselves in the experiences that have Team Create off.

  • When Team Create is turned on to enable shared editing, all group members with Edit access will be required to age check to access the experience.

As an owner of a collaborative experience, I don’t want to complete an age check. What happens then?

  • Your collaborators won’t be able to access the collaborative experience (Team Create enabled, with co-editors) if you don’t age check.

  • This is true even as a Group owner – you need to age check to enable other group members to collaborate in Team Create.

  • Users with Edit permissions to your experience but blocked from joining will continue to have the ability to create a copy (via Save As to Roblox) of the experience.

Can I still collaborate in an experience where some collaborators haven’t age checked?

  • Collaborators who haven’t age checked will be blocked from collaboration and will not impact others’ ability to collaborate.

What do I do if I was incorrectly placed in the wrong age group and can no longer work with my team?

  • For users under 18, linked parents can correct the age of users who are put into the incorrect age group. Users 13+ can also verify their identity using a government-issued ID.

  • Users who are age checked as 18+ can also re-check their age once if they were placed in the wrong age group through their account settings.

Is there a limit on how many Trusted Connections someone can have?

  • Currently, you can have up to 1000 Connections total between regular Connections and Trusted Connections.

Once again, another horrible update ruining the platform…

This feels like a really unnecessary change.

Most people dont even use Team Create to “socialize” like you seem to think. Developers usually talk through Discord or just work separately. Studio is a development tool, not a chat platform.

Adding age checks and restrictions just makes collaboration more annoying for no real reason. It mainly hurts small teams and people who already know and trust each other.

This feels like you’re solving a problem that barely exists, while making things harder for actual creators.

This helps absolutely nobody and is just another excuse to fork over your personal info. It’s like you guys are trying to alienate your developers at this point.
